Assalamu ‘Alaykum (Peace be With You).
Welcome to Islamic Libraries: A Resource Guide!
Whatever the type of library you are intending to start or, if you have already started a collection, trying to get better organized; then this website offers resources that will assist you in getting there. Most of the information is geared toward setting up a small library and is written so that almost anyone can understand.
Content on the site is based on my experience as a librarian. But also included are links to valuable online resources that will assist in various aspects of creating and manging a library. In addition, you will find information specific to Islamic materials such as publishers of Islamic works, Islamic collections in libraries around the world and issues surrounding the classification of Islamic library materials.
Please use the links located on the navigation bar at the top of this page (and all pages) to help you move around the site.
This website is based in part on my first website Planning and Managing a Special Library: An Islamic Perspective, published ten years ago, just as I was beginning my career as a librarian.
So here is the new website, Islamic Libraries: A Resource Guide. I am sure that you will find something helpful within the pages of this site. Please contact me if you have any questions or comments and thank you for visiting!
